Bumrungrad International is a Joint Commission International accredited, multi-specialty hospital located in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. Bumrungrad International offers state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and intensive care facilities in a one-stop medical centre.

The immense scope of the Bumrungrad Hospital Facility is similar to a small city in many ways, with 2 on-site hotels, 2 Starbucks, McDonalds, florists, Bangkok Bank branch, gift shops, restaurants, health food and baby shops, cafés and more. The hospital has friendly multi-lingual patient coordinators to stay by your side every step of the way.

The Bumrungrad Spine Institute

The Spine Institute at Bumrungrad is one of Asia’s best known medical centres of excellence. The senior surgeons help train specialists from around the world in the latest surgical and non-surgical treatments for back and neck pain. The Institute’s conservative approach uses pain intervention and physical therapy when possible and less-invasive endoscopic surgery when necessary. For patients requiring surgery, the Institute specialises in minimally invasive endoscopic (keyhole) spine surgery, and Robotic Spine Surgery to deliver excellent results. Thousands of patients experience less pain and faster recovery as a result.
Even more importantly, each case is thoroughly reviewed to determine the best course of action to fix symptoms at their root cause - even if the best way is through non-surgical means and rehabilitative strategies. The Institute offers a team of orthopaedic and neurosurgeons; pain specialists; physical therapists and nurses with experience helping back and neck pain patients.

Asia-Pacific’s Full Endoscopic Spine Surgery Training Centre

Bumrungrad Spine Institute, headed by its director Dr. Verapan Kuansongtham, has been selected by Germany’s Dr. Sebastian Ruetten as Asia-Pacific’s first and only training center for his endoscopic surgery technique. Pioneered in Germany, this approach uses ‘keyhole surgery’ to reconstruct and stabilise damaged spines. Patients benefit from a less invasive surgery, less blood loss and faster recovery.

Dr. Verapan’s workshops at Bumrungrad Hospital attract surgeons from the USA, Australia, China and other countries, and a training course has now been established in China with surgeons from Bumrungrad’s Spine Institute invited to lead the training.

St. Anna Hospital of Germany and The Bumrungrad Spine Institute jointly organize full endoscopic lumbar and cervical spine surgery symposiums three times a year, twice in Germany and once at the Bumrungrad Spine Institute in Thailand.
